Northwich Rowing Club came together on Saturday for our annual awards ceremony which celebrates the achievements of our members both on and off the water. Normally held at the club, this year we tried something different and had the evening at Castle Sports and Social Club. It was well attended by members old and new.
Retiring Chair, Graham Jump gave an overview of all the winners and their achievements and we were very grateful to Mayor Jane Thomas and Sir John Deane’s Principal Chris Atherton for presenting the following awards:
Bill Cotton Award for Volunteering, Steff Lundie
Simon Crouchley Award for Coach of The Year, Jennie Abdelaty
Grange Award for Endeavour, John Baxter
Eddie Phillips Award for Veteran of the Year, Mary Ozsanlav-Harris, Elaine Hempsted, Steph Cushen and Mel Benson
Chairman’s Award, Andy Pope
Salt of the Earth, Joanna Austin
Irvine Award for most improved sculler, Kai Jump
George Musker Award, Freddie Cushen
After the awards which were superbly organised by Club Secretary Jayne Black, we celebrated with music (thank you Darren), dancing, and great food(thank you Bev), as well as some questionable singing from some of our juniors. It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to meet up and a great night was had by all.
