Juniors
With grateful thanks to The Rowing Foundation for their support of junior rowing at Northwich Rowing Club.

Our junior section has grown significantly in recent years since the introduction of Project Oarsome in 1996.
Many of our Juniors have gone on to become members of the GB rowing team, including Olympic Champion, Matthew Langridge. The pinnacle for Junior athletes is to represent their club at Henley Royal Regatta in the quad events.
Our Junior intake starts at 13 years old, so if you are interested in joining us, please contact our Junior Coordinator using the form below.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved there are a limited number of spaces available in each squad, so you may have to join a waiting list. Please be patient, we will be in touch when a place becomes available so that you can have a go at rowing.
We do expect a certain level of commitment from Juniors and their parents so that crews can develop at an appropriate skill level aligned to competition. The number of training sessions each week depends on age and experience; a beginner in the J15 squad (school Year 10) would not be expected to train more than twice a week, for example, whereas some of our older Juniors on the talent pathway for GB Rowing will train up to 12 sessions a week. J13s and J14s train once or twice during the week with one or two weekend sessions on Saturday/Sunday mornings; J15/J16 athletes will train twice a week and row on both Saturday and Sunday mornings; J17 and J18 athletes will train up to six sessions a week, including both Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Being part of our Junior squad is something very special and helps build confidence and self-esteem. It does require commitment and good organisation skills to successfully balance rowing, schoolwork and family time.
